Why choose resin for your driveway or patio?
What is a resin bound driveway?
A resin bound driveway is formed using small gravel like stones that are bound together by resin. Unlike gravel, it doesn’t shift or move, but it does have the same porous capabilities. A resin driveway is not subject to weeds, neither will UV light damage the surface or change its colour.
Some existing driveways that are constructed of either tarmac or block paving could be suitable for resin to be installed over the top, but we would need to undertake a site survey to give you firm advice on this matter.
It can be laid in a huge variety of colours and you can have different paterns or colours for paths. The 3 major benefits of resin are:
Maintenance free
Unlike tarmac or block paving, resin is completely maintenance free. Just the odd sweep of those leaves and it’s back to new again.
Anti-slip surface
Resin is a great choice for the elderley or for persons who need walking assistance. Non-slip and completely flat surface.
Completely porous
One of the great benefits of resin is no puddles because it is completely porous.

Resin Bound Surfaces
We install Resin Bound surfaces that are fully compliant with UK Building Control Regulations.
A resin bound surface allows water to pass through it at a rate of approx 850litres per min, per sqm. This rate is substantially greater than rainfall (even with climate change) so your driveway will not puddle. It meets building regulations because it allows water to naturally drain into the soil beneath the drive, thus preventing water from running off driveways into roads and entering storm drains, because this contributes to flooding.
Tarmac and block paving, although somewhat porous, they often cannot cope with high volume of rainfall, therefore water ends up running into the road and entering storm drains. With more and more households requiring larger drives, a resin bound driveway is the surface that everyone should be aiming for.
- Resin offers truly bespoke driveways that can feature different colours
- Resin provides a seemless design
- Resin Bound is permeable and therefore puddle free

No. Resin is porous so it allows water to pass through it.
Resin can be used on a variety of existing surfaces, including concrete, asphalt, and brick. If we are widening or extending a driveway, you are likely to need a new sub-base.
